Andiroba is a tree native to the Amazon and its restorative oil is harvested mainly by women from local communities in the Amazon rainforest, which provides them with greater income and autonomy.
Local communities harvest the Andiroba seeds sustainably, drying them for a month and then pressing them to obtain their precious oil which contains chemicals called limonoids. These chemicals seem to repel and kill mosquitoes and other insects.
